Race begins at 11 am
You bring a shovel and get from the starting point to the bottom the fastest while remaining on your Shovel. Shovels can be modified but must still function as shovels, and participants may be asked to demonstrate snow shoveling. No engines allowed.
Participants will race under the principle of a knockout race. Participants will be lined up in groups of 5 to 10; everyone will go simultaneously. Whoever gets to the bottom first while remaining on their Shovel will move on to the next round. Participants are permitted to share shovels, i.e. one person uses it for the first round; if eliminated, another person could use it and try their luck at the next set to go. When registering, please let Cape Smokey Race Team volunteers know you are sharing a shovel so you will be placed in a different start line. Suppose the people sharing a shovel must compete simultaneously for the final round. In that case, the participants must use a different shovel. So, if you don't have a shovel, borrow one when you get here!
*We will also have prize draws for anyone who signs up for the races. So even if you are not the fastest, you could still win!
*Anyone can also purchase tickets for the prize draws and does not have to race to qualify.
We have an assortment of prizes that will be drawn randomly for all participants and anyone who purchases tickets. Prizes and draws to be done at 3 pm.
