Cape Smokey Winter FAQ

What are your COVID-19 protocols?

Cape Smokey is dedicated to keeping you safe and healthy this winter season! All Atlantic Ski Resort Association ski hills will be following guidelines provided to us by the Nova Scotia Health Authority. To protect yourself and others, Public Health recommends that you  self-isolate if you have  COVID-19 symptoms or have tested positive for COVID-19 or wear a mask if you cannot isolate.

Do you offer rentals?

Yes! We have Rossignol ski and snowboard rentals, as well as snowshoes, to get you on the ski hill this season! Our sizes vary for both ski and snowboard rentals, so we have your entire family covered. We suggest that you pre-book your rentals with our online booking system, to speed up.

Will you be open for March Break with special events?

Barring any health guideline changes, we will be open throughout all of March Break and University Reading Week. Keep an eye on our events page and our Facebook for up-to-date event information, and we look forward to seeing you at the top!

Can I bring my dog - are the gondola's pet friendly?

We love our furry friends! For the safety of you, your pet, and others, we kindly ask that only support animals ride the gondola. All leashed dogs are welcome at the base of the hill.

Do I have to purchase my ticket ahead of time?

To get you on the hill as quickly as possible, we suggest you book your lift pass and/or rentals online prior to your winter visit. We do have ticketing on site for those unable to book online or those looking to drop in.
Also, tickets ordered 10 or more days in advance are cheaper.

What is at the top of the mountain?

This winter, you’ll be able to ride the gondola to the top of Cape Smokey and have full access to new ski runs as well as established ones! We also have a snack shack at the top for those looking to take a break with a view. Our snowshoers are welcome to explore the primitive trail around the lake.

Are there bathrooms up on the mountain?

We do not currently have washroom facilities at the top of the mountain.

Are there larger group passes?

We do offer group rates for larger, organized groups. Please contact us at events@capesmokeyholding.com .

How long does the ride take?

We completely control the speed of our gondola, so the ride time may vary, depending on how busy we are, if we need to stop it to aid someone, or weather. In the summer, we had the trip set to about 8 minutes (one way). This winter, it will take around 5-6 minutes to get you to the top.

How much does it cost?

Pricing varies, so check out our pricing via capesmokey.ca/winter-ticketing!
