Smokey & Martock Sessions, presented by East Peak, brought together incredible artists, spectacular mountain settings, and communities that share a passion for live music. Designed as an intimate songwriter circle, the series gave audiences the opportunity to experience the stories behind the songs, creating evenings that felt personal, authentic, and unforgettable.
Set across two unique mountain destinations, each event had its own character while sharing the same spirit—bringing people together to celebrate music, great food, local craft beer, and the landscapes that make Nova Scotia so special.
The series featured an exceptional lineup of artists, including Joel Plaskett, Gordie Sampson, Lennie Gallant, Terra Spencer, Asif Ilyas, Nick Van Eede, and The Town Heroes. Together, they shared songs, stories, laughter, memorable collaborations, and the kind of moments that only a songwriter circle can create. One of the highlights came when Nick Van Eede, frontman of the iconic 1980s band Cutting Crew, performed the band's timeless hit "(I Just) Died in Your Arms." The instantly recognizable anthem had the audience singing along, creating one of the most memorable moments of the series.
At Martock, guests gathered for an evening of live music, delicious barbecue by Vintage Stove & Fireplace, and local craft beer from Nine Locks Brewing Co. While a few showers passed through, the warm summer evening created a welcoming atmosphere, and the audience embraced every moment. A special highlight of the night was celebrating Gordie Sampson's birthday, with the crowd joining in to make the occasion even more memorable.
At Cape Smokey, guests were treated to beautiful weather as music filled the mountain overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. With breathtaking views, an unforgettable lineup, and an incredible atmosphere, the evening showcased everything that makes Cape Smokey such a remarkable place to experience live music.
Smokey & Martock Sessions were about more than concerts. They reflected a shared vision of creating places where people can gather, connect, and make lasting memories. Music became another way to experience the mountains—not only as destinations for adventure, but as places where culture, creativity, and community come together.
